Great interim opportunity for a Production Manager who can hit the ground running in a fast moving manufacturing / production operation in Skelmersdale.
This key role calls for an individual with strong experience of managing within a dynamic, fast moving high quality manufacturing environment and has a familiarity of Lean Manufacturing principals such as SMED, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kanban and Poke Yoke, 6 Sigma. You will have a Production management background, ideally with some understanding of Production Engineering, and will know what a TPM plan looks like.
The successful candidate will lead the manufacturing facility at the Skelmersdale site of this worldwide manufacturer which is one of the leaders within its market. This is a challenging and demanding role; the site is going through transition and you will need to be able to organise, direct and lead your team of Production Planners, Quality Production Engineers, Production Supervisors and Production staff through various process improvement initiatives.
Candidates need to be able to operate at both 'hands on' and strategic levels. You will be a strong and effective people manager able to develop Manufacturing Team Leaders and Maintenance teams to their full potential whilst promoting a strong H&S culture. You will ensure KPIs are achieved and a process of Continuous Improvement is in place. You will need to heavily engage with the Production Planning function to ensure that the plans produced are achievable and financially efficient with no hidden costs. A good financial acumen is also needed.
Candidates should live within a commutable distance of Skelmersdale and be available for an IMMEDIATE start. You must have experience of fast paced production machinery. It is likely that you will be used to managing in an environment where multiple daily changeovers /converting lines from running one product to another are the norm. Candidates from a complex printing environment or automotive would be of interest.
