National Operations Program Manager : 12 months FTC. (Midlands based 50% of the time)

A large retail business with extensive warehousing and transportation operations nationally, requires a Programme Manager with end to end responsibility for scoping, planning, designing and delivering projects within the warehousing division. You will be responsible for change portfolio to agreed timescales, costs and quality standards - to support of execution of the business strategy, and operating in line with the company's Transformation ways of working.

Responsibilities include:

Day-to-day management and coordination of the assigned business change project/s.

Identify and agree the strategic requirements of all relevant parties across the business to establish overall project scope including deliverables, outcomes, change requirements and desired business benefits

Define and establish the cross-functional team required to support the delivery of the project. Provide support and direction to the project team (both dedicated roles directly reporting to you and other assigned team members), and drive good project and change management disciplines to improve change execution

Develop and maintain project plans and budgets which will deliver to stakeholder and business needs, and ensure that specific deadlines and milestones are agreed and communicated to all parties involved.

Identify and proactively manage project risks, issues and dependencies, ensuring that they have been recorded adequately and have owners assigned and mitigating actions in place, with timely escalation in an appropriate manner when required

Provide appropriate project controls and monitoring to ensure the project is delivered to agreed time, cost and quality requirements. Manage the production of project control documentation and review/update at each stage of the project lifecycle.

Lead effective stakeholder management, reporting and governance processes to ensure that the delivery progress, risks and issues, costs and benefits are reported regularly and that appropriate decisions can be made

Ensure maximum efficiency and value for money through robust cost challenge and cost management throughout the project (budgets, estimates, forecasting, resource utilisation)

Ensure business readiness for implementation / handover, ensuring the organisation effectively adopts and sustains the change so that strategic outcomes and targeted business benefits are achieved

Continuous Review / Improvement - Via regular communication (e.g. monthly leadership meetings) actively participate in the continual review of all activities

You must have experience of project management and change management in a commercial environment with a proven track record of successfully defining and delivering change projects. A project and/or programme management qualification (Prince II) is a must. You will have excellent influencing and stakeholder management skills - able to build & nurture excellent relationships with stakeholders up to a senior level. Confidence to challenge stakeholders to ensure compliance to defined timescales.

We are looking for excellent written and verbal communication skills and confident presenter - able to articulate complex information simply to a variety of audiences. You will have financial/cost management capability, including managing budgets, challenging costs & interpreting data.
